SpeedGRIP Compound

SpeedGRIP Compound is a gravel-specific rubber formula, born from Pirelli's experience in the World Rally Championship where speed and grip performance on and off-road are crucial. This chemical formulation is based on the polymer matrix of the MTB-specific SmartGRIP compound while reducing its rolling resistance. Gravel use requires good speed and road capabilities, for this reason our engineers have modified the characteristics of the compound towards better fuel efficiency with a little compromise on grip, the result is a predictable compound with performance strong on and off road.

Our engineers have thoughtfully combined technologies derived from road-specific reinforced coatings with MTB tires to obtain our most advanced gravel tubulars whose performance is achieved with the use of special fabric reinforcements and thicker rubber layers in specific areas of the tire. On the road, the majority of punctures are caused by the penetration of sharp objects while the most common off-road punctures are caused by sidewall cuts, which is why the TechWALL Gravel features a durable 120tpi fabric throughout. tire perimeter still providing a smooth driving feel.
